OMG!

That detective needs to have his own film.

Takeshi Kaneshiro and his doppelganger waved you in. )

I can't believe I've just finished School Days, a 1995 movie with Takeshi Kaneshiro and Jimmy Lin. Which made me wondered why he took this role in the first place, he has the momentum from Chungking Express (though not a huge hit in HK) then, he went to this. It's draggy, it's boring, but here's the surprising thing- I want the boys to graduate together at the end of the movie. ack!

Cannot wait to watch Wu Xia. Looks awesome plus more adorable, quirky detective Takeshi (with glasses). heh.

Drama

The only J-drama I'm interested with this Spring is Iryu Sousa. Unfortunately, no subbing team has take that drama. Apart from continuing with my backdated dramas, I decided to put my attention to K-drama.

Best Love attracts me because it shares the same title as Masha's 2AM remake, Saiai. Then, I realise it's that guy from City Hall, who kinda looks like the Korean Abe Hiroshi. Best Love took that character, and magnify it thousand folds. He knows Obama, Peter Jackson. He has fans! He's their National Actor. And they even include the long-suffering Personal Assistant, who's snark on the outrageous claims. Basically, it's hillarious.

Can't wait for more.

Disclaimer: This post is the result of reading a discussion in D-A, and other places.

Is it viewers' responsibility to forget about an actor's previous role?

Because you see, so far, I always thought it's the actor's responsibility to change themselves in order to inhibits the role. When they do so, the viewers will automatically forget about his previous roles. And that's a mark of a good actor.

Say...

-Cillian Murphy in Sunshine and Cillian Murphy in 28 Days Later are two different characters. They talked differently, they stood differently and not once, you thought you're seeing Jim in a spaceship. Both films have the same director.

- Takeru in BECK and Q10. He plays a high school student in both. Koyuki is a weak boy who discovers his love for music, while Heita doesn't really care, but he's also discovering about love through his encounter with a robot. Not once, I see Heita in BECK, or Koyuki in Q10.

- Even Masha, in what seems to be the most surprise casting ever in a taiga drama (seriously, the whuuuuuttt???? reaction is still around), has managed to show how Ryoma is different from Yukawa-sensei. Not once, has people ever accused him of acting like Yukawa in Ryomaden. That's probably because his accent is different, his walk is different and even his voice is different (Ryoma is more hoarse).

The script and the directing may contributes to this. However, it is the actor the viewers ultimately see. They are the first person to get praise when a project is successful. But they are also the first person to get the blame if it fails. It's a tough job.

More like time to express my piss-off-ness.

There's a water supply interruption in my house.

It's been going on for 24 hours.

Thankfully, we still received water supply though there's a full interruption a few houses down (probably because our house is the nearest one to the water tank, hence, we still get enough pressure).

However... it's more than 24 hours.

Japan has already resuming their transportation, water supply, electricity in Central Tokyo in less than 24 hours after a major earthquake and tsunami disrupted everything.

Us?

*band head*

Yea, I know I have to be thankful. But that won't stop me from ranting. And banging head.

PS: It happens when a member of the family got engaged today. And I'm not a social person, so you can imagine how awkward I am amongst strangers. *dies*

Damm I missed that old man. I missed his voice and I am so so fricking glad he's safe and sound.

An Ojichan nevertheless!

While I was in the process of making The Armchair Murderer, I realised I never post any thoughts on 28 Days Later, the movie where the awesome soundtracks came from. I have to remedy that, so here it is.

I hate horror movie. Between the sickeningly sweet rom-com or horror, I usually choose the former. I haven't watch Battle Royale yet, because the thoughts of those students kill one another filled me with horror (pun not intended). I hate it. I was easily scared. In fact, I actually closed my eyes when Indiana Jones gets slightly violence. Yea, that includes the part where he and his son went investigating the Mayan cave (or something).

But I love 28 Days Later. I was prepared to leave my friend's house a few years back, when we changed the channel and we saw deserted London and this man walking with his plastic bag. I ended up staying instead and two hours later, we were looking at each other and went: That's pretty good

What makes it good? (spoiler inside) )

I guess what makes it good is that, you care for these people. After all they've been through, you just wish for a happy ending. Your heart breaks if they don't get it. That's what I love about it.

Probably the fastest video-making ever! Really, the whole thing was finished in one and a half day.

It started when I rewatched 28 Days Later. I hate horror, but I love the movie. Go figure. So, we have Jim, the main character, kicking ass and taking names. And this music, this piece of music was playing throughout that scene. Sometimes, you heard a piece of fantastic soundtrack from a movie (99 is an example), and you just have to get them. I did. I can't stop listening to it for the past few days. It was on repeat. And I know I have to do something about it.

Well, first of all, George VI is my favourite British monarch. Yea, I say that. There's something romantic about a reluctant king, who ascended the throne because his brother abdicated. And he came with a weakness of his own. He's a guy you wanted to root for. So, when I first heard about this film, I'm definitely excited.

Here comes the problem. I watched this a week after I watched The Wind the Shakes the Barley. And it pales in comparison.

I have a voice! )

On other news, SWITCH magazines! Pretty pretty Ryoma photos. Thought my friend comments: Why is it so dark? And why is he so serious? Dude, Masha has loosen up since Ryoma. Before that, he only has one type of expression in every photoshoot. :D Kiddin', love you ol' man.

eh?

Lots of Valentine's wishes today. I feel like I woke up in the wrong place. eh? It sounds like today is a public holiday/special day or something. erm... I really do not know how to feel about it.
(There are some parts that do make me feel all warmth inside. I suppose it's the thought that counts, right?)

But Bros 89! Bestest gift ever for today. Wonderful photo of Ryoma and his bestest friend Yataro. Love it.

I don't know why, but I found myself almost obsessed with this films. I've been putting it on repeats, checking out the scenes I want to see for the past couple of days now. Does it affect me emotionally? Does it make me cry? I don't know. But I do know I can't stop thinking about it.

And I think I might be a socialist at heart- ack! )

Watch it~ It made me think and now I can't stop thinking.

There are some j-dramas out there who did not blow you away in the first episode, however, it's enough to make you continues and lulled you that by the end of the series, you found out you love them, and you feel sad to part with all the characters you have known. It's difficult to find these type of dramas now, the type where you have got to see what happen next, thus, making you spent your holidays marathoning them.

Shinya Shokudo is one of them.

This is how I spent my holiday )

Truly a slice of food life.

Just how many Ryomaden actors can they squeeze in this drama?

You got: Iwasaki Yataro, Shogun Yoshinobu, Yamauchi Yodo (which I can recognise his voice after being abused so much by certain old man in All Night Nippon) and Ryoma's mom. Sooo... where's Ryoma?

Oh, in the movies apparently. Doing a five seconds cameo.

Good job Team Ryomaden!

48 episodes, 372 days of shooting, 600 casts and extras, around 200 production crews, over four seasons and various local locations. The last days of shooting has finally arrived.

All I can say: Otsukaresama deshita!

All Masha can said, ありがとう。
anduril: exposure (Default)
You say Cambridge? That's the place where my friend say there are many homosexual and communist people there. I bet you you were targeted a lot

LMAO! I can't believe Ootomo Keiji wrote that.

Ootomo Keiji just wanted you to swoon at Iseya Yuusuke. )

Unfortunately, there are no more Eng-subbed torrent uploads for this drama. But once torrent is up, I'm definitely continuing this.
