Oh Italia!
Jun. 26th, 2010 06:00 pmIt took me a few days to come in terms that we have no more Italia in the WC. Frankly speaking, WC has ended for me. That's why I decided to post my thoughts a couple of days later.
It reminds me on what happened back in 2002. Korea defeated them in the second round. I remembered watching that game, and I remembered how I really want Korea to win. Because they were more entertaining, they were more passionate, and Italy was jolted out of their reverie when Ahn Jung-Hwan scored. It was a controversial disallowed goal, I gave them that, but most of the fault came from themselves. If only they took the game seriously since the beginning.
So yes, I shared the same feeling as the majority of the fans. They *deserved* to be kicked out this early. Yea, I know, with injured Pirlo and Buffon, there's nothing much Lippi can do about it. But hey, he should prepare a backup plans, at least. I mean, wasn't everyone lauded his genius plan in rotating the squad back in 2006? Can't he do the same now?
The only game I managed to watch live is vs New Zealand. I saw the line-up. Not impressive. Maybe because Gila was there, and deep down, I feel a sense of dissatisfaction with this guy. He's good if the attack concentrates on him, but there's no way am I going to let him be the only spear in attack. Then I saw Zambrotta, I like this guy. He has a flash of brilliance here and there. But I didn't see it, unfortunately. *sigh*
Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. Nevertheless, they still have my support. Because I have fond memories of their 94' team.
