Yukawa-sensei and his principle on what a scientist should be.
Finally, that long-ass video that everyone demanded. :p
This is a difficult video to make.
I usually use English songs in my video and subconsciously, I suppose I edit those to fit the lyrics. But this time, it's BLUES by Fukuyama Masaharu. The idea came when pillow-san mentioned BLUES is a little sarcastic. And I suddenly realise, oh damm, this is Yukawa-sensei before he became Yukawa-sensei!
So I went ahead with the song. However, my current video source is the one that was hardsubbed by SARS (the DVD is still with a friend, whom I think she's about 90% sure she wants to keep it). I fell into a trap. Previously, I always try to edit my video according to lyrics and melody, now, I edit my video according to the sub, and melody. Yes, I'm ignoring the lyrics here.
But editing the video according to the sub made the final result less dynamic. Since the viewers' attention is on the sub (I hope), the change of scene from one end to another looks a bit boring. It looks the same because the characters are discussing something important. I guess this is the limitations of the video when you are trapped in your more dominant language (in this case, English).
And another difficulty I face is the song.

Fukuyama Masaharu in his Arasa period decided to be adventurous and wrote BLUES. Normal pop song goes something like:-
A-A-Chorus-A-Chorus-Bridge-A (Saiai is one example)
But BLUES goes something like:-
A-A-D-Chorus-A *bridge instrumental1* D-Chorus-A *instrumental 2*
*D here is a verse that has a slightly different melody than verse A. And the instrumental can only be split into two sections.
Arghhh!! *pull hair* For two days I got stuck on how to proceed to D. Then I made a decision. Split each verse as an introduction to Yukawa's nemesis. The first one goes to Tagami, the second goes to that bijin lady and the last one is his sensei. Then, let's moved to their crime, the way Yukawa solves and how Yukawa smacked them up. Never messed up with the sensei if you want to mess arounf with science.
I selected these three episodes because it has a discussion on what it meant for Yukawa, as a scientist. The three of them have a huge potential to become great scientist, but they decided to use their brilliant minds on other reasons. Of course, it brought disappointment personally to Yukawa. Thus, once the theme and decision is set, the rest of it... well, I wouldn't say it comes easy. But at least I have something to work on.
I also put in some quotes, this is to compliment on the type of man he is, his thoughts and his actions. All the quote directly comes from SARS, except one. When Kusanagi said: Henjin Galileo , SARS translated it as Galileo the Weirdo. I decided to keep the original words, because it sounds better. It looks better too. hahaha. The quotes is also one way to keep viewers to *read* what was on screen. I also try to find the exact font SARS was using, but there's none. So I use the one that I think almost similar looking.
I suppose this video was not meant for Japanese speaker. Sorry. Thus, I have no idea whether the scene fits Masha's lyrics or not.
Of course, continuing my gripping with the video quality. The original video I have is in standard definition format, with 704x395 in size. This is different from the one I worked with. I cannot export it as high-definition. The quality is... atrocious!
So I experimented with 'deblocking and denoise'. What they did is just masked the video. Even though those blocks are still around to the observant eyes, at least it looks slightly better. The method also gives a soft hue to the video. It wasn't as sharp as before, but I decided to keep it. Kinda looks interesting.
