So I decided to venture into a new territory. Editing fanvideo (if Masha can try his acting in a period drama, then, I can try something new too). I'm using Mac and the tool that's already available for me is iMovie8. I studied the tutorial, importing, testing, editing a few clips and exporting it out. I think I'm getting a hang of it.
Then, I found a few weaknesses. There are no slo-mo effect in iMovie 8. Okay, fine. Maybe adding that effect could make me tear my hair some more. Forget about that effect. There's a lot of other things you can try to overcome that weakness. Should be okay. Just concentrate on your editing.
Once I finished it, I found out a huge huge weakness about iMovie.
The Loss of Picture Quality.
The weird thing, when I play the original clip in the program, it looks okay. But when I selected a couple of secs clips for editing and play it, there's a lot of noise/grainy effect.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently iMovie process it's output in a different way, they took a shortcut and just scan the video instead of converting each line. ergh! Really. The solution I found out is to make sure your source has a good picture quality to begin with. I know the movie that I have is not a HD or Bluray definition. But why must you lost its picture quality??!!

And here's the version after export:

About the video. In the beginning, I want to show Yukawa (bless his logical heart) is a bit naive, especially when it comes to that thing called Love. He was being played around by Ishigami. But in the process of making this video, I found out again that he can be quite a manipulative bastard. LOL. He's egoistic, he loves challenge and this guy can pulled a string if he wants to. I love it.
I selected this song, Prelude 12/21 by afi because 1. It's short, so it's easy for my first ever fanvid to finish 2. It has nice strong rhythm which made it easy for me to cut and do the transition between scenes. 3. That non-sensical lyrics. It's fun to imagine Yukawa as a stalker and it's fun to relate the lyrics with that particular scene.

Prelude 12/21 by afi
This is what I brought you, this you can keep.
This is what I brought, you may forget me.
I promise to depart, just promise one thing.
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.
This is what I brought you, this you can keep.
This is what I brought, you may forget me.
I promise you my heart just promise to sing.
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa
(Whoa, Whoa)
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.
This is what I thought, I thought you’d need me.
This is what I thought, so think me naive
I'd promised you a heart, you'd promise to keep.
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.
`Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.`
Sorry about the picture quality. It looks fine if you keep your screen as it is, do not maximise it or watch it in fullscreen. It looks bad. Thank you. I will re-upload it again if I manage to get a better quality video. Do comments and give suggestion how I can improve. Thanks.
